About Library

The GVN Aided Library has different collection of books, journals and e-resources to support teaching, research and extension programmes of the college and provides efficient and effective service to the all the members of the institution since 1966.

The Library is Technology-enabled and bar-coded all its operations using a Library Management Software – CAMPES iLIB. It facilitates access to common digital resources for arts and humanities, social sciences and physical and natural sciences through subscription to digital databases.

Library is the heart of any educational institution. It caters to the information needs of its clientele i.e. students, research scholars, faculty and staff members. It houses variety of information sources like printed books, e-books, periodicals, e-journals, newspapers, question banks, institutional publications etc.

Location

The library is located in the main building of the college. It is situated next to Office Room. The library is placed in such a manner that it is centrally located to enable the students and faculty of all the departments and staff members to have an easy access.

Organization of the Library

The library is organized into the following sections:

• Property Counter – to keep the personal belongings of the users
• Reading Hall – 120 users can use the library at a time
• Newspapers and Magazine Section
• Stack Room – the books meant for lending are arranged subject-wise
• Question Bank Section
• Circulation Counter
• Store Room
• Digital Library Section

Digital Library

• The library has a small digital library with 5 computers.
• All the four computers do have internet connection.
• The students and faculties are free to browse the net for their academic and research work and preparing themselves for competitive exams.

Working Hours

• The library serves its users on all the working days of the college.
• The library works from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
• There is no fixed time for book issue and returns. The students may get the books issued or return the books during their free hours, lunch time or after the college hours.

Rules and Regulations

The users of the library have to adhere to the following rules and regulations:

• Perfect silence should be maintained.
• Personal belongings should be kept in the cubicles.
• Kindly bring your pen or pencil and a paper for reference.
• Eligibility for lending: UG – 4 books, PG – 6 books.
• Lending period: UG - 15 days, PG - 30 days.
• Fine: Re.1/- (per day) after due date.
• The students will be responsible for the books borrowed by them. For missing/damaged books - 3 times the amount of the book to be paid.
• Documents should used with great care and misplacement not encouraged.
• e-card is printed at the back of the ID card for library usage.
• For quick and accurate circulation bar-coding system is followed. Internet facility is available for students and staff free of cost.
• WEB OPAC (Web Online Public Access Catalog) should be used for the bibliographic details.
• Open Access system is followed.
• Sub-lending library documents should not be done.
• Question bank collection, dissertations, reference books, newspapers etc. are meant for only reference in the library premises, and not meant for home lending.
• The students and faculty members should get 'No Dues' from the library, when leaving the college.
