SECRETARY

Dr. P. Mahendran, PhD, was appointed as Secretary, of this college with effect from May 18, 2019. He did his Under-Graduation (1976–1979) and Post-Graduation (1979–1981) in Psychology from Presidency College, Chennai, and his M.Phil. Psychology from University of Madras in 1982. He completed his Ph.D. in Psychology from Bharathiar University in 2010. He has completed the Yoga Instructor Course from S.Vyasa, Deemed University, Bangalore, PG Diploma in Yoga from Annamalai University and the PG Diploma in Statistical Analysis from Annamalai University. He has acquired specialization in the areas of Counselling Psychology, Yoga Psychology and Rehabilitation Psychology

He joined the PSG College of Arts and Science in 1983 as Assistant Professor in Psychology and had an excellent teaching career for more than 33 years. During his tenure, he has held various positions, including Convener for Yoga Component, Internal Auditor and Deputy Management Representative for ISO Systems, HoD/Psychology and Controller of Examinations. His area of teaching and research was related to Yoga Psychology, Counselling Psychology and Rehabilitation Psychology.

He has participated in many international and national conferences, seminars and workshops held at various organizations. He has published a number of research articles in reputed journals and conference proceedings. He has successfully guided ten PhD research scholars in the areas of Yoga Psychology, Learning disability, and Organizational Psychology, in addition to guiding more than 25 MPhil research projects. As part of his PhD research work, he developed and standardized tools to measure Spiritual Nature and Subjective well-being. Before joining GVN College, he served as Controller of Examinations at PKR Arts College for Women, Gobichettipalayam, for two years.
